Cover Profile, Mounting on Undamaged Windshield:
-- Before installing the new cover profile, remove the rest of the old one -2- from the windshield -1- using a commercially available glass scraper.
TIP:
The rest of the old glass adhesive bead -3- serves as an installation marker for the new cover profile.
-- For reinstalling the old shim, place the new spacer on the marks applied on the ceramic coating inward on the windshield.
-- Prepare the body flange for installation. Refer to BODY FLANGE, PREPARING FOR INSTALLATION .
-- Prepare undamaged windows for installation. Refer to UNDAMAGED WINDOW GLASS, PREPARING FOR INSTALLATION , or prepare new windows for installation. Refer to NEW WINDOW GLASS, PREPARING FOR INSTALLATION .
-- Use two suction lifters and a second technician to insert the windshield into the window opening and align the sides.
- The distance to the A-pillars must be the same.
-- Adjust the distance from the windshield -1- to the upper window frame.
- Dimension -a- = 2 mm
-- Secure the window to the top of the roof with adhesive tape.
-- Equipment versions with windshield defogger: establish the connection for the windshield defogger.
-- Before installing the plenum chamber cover, remove the lower adjusting wedges and the protective molding from the frame. Refer to Figure.
- Observe minimum curing times. Refer to MINIMUM CURING TIMES FOR BONDED WINDOWS .
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
