Adjustable Steering Column And Steering Column Tube: Notes

NOTE:

To make installation easier, drive the vehicle onto a lift and raise until front wheels hang freely.

Removing

-- Remove steering column switches STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES .

-- Remove left cover under instrument panel.

-- Remove left footwell air duct.

-- Loosen screws (arrows) and remove trim.

-- Remove mounting screws (arrows).

-- Carefully pull instrument cluster out of instrument panel.

-- Disconnect harness connector; remove instrument cluster.

-- Remove connector housing from ignition lock.

-- Remove left and right nuts (arrows).

-- Remove wiring harness and clamps from threaded bolt.

-- Disconnect universal joint from steering column, then remove both bolts.

-- Remove Torx® bolt with T 30 insert such as Snap-On FTX30A.

-- Remove steering column tube from bracket.

-- Remove screws from bracket.

-- Push steering column tube with steering lock housing down slightly, turn to left, pull steering lock housing out of steering column tube and remove.

-- Disconnect cable on steering column tube.

-- Remove steering column with steering column tube by carefully pulling upward out of instrument panel.
