Vehicle Without Active Transport Mode

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

The battery is located under the luggage compartment cover.

Removal Procedures: 

Vehicles without High-Voltage System:

-- Lift up the luggage compartment floor covering at the handle and fold forward.

-- If equipped, remove the pressure reservoir and set it to the side with the lines connected. Refer to AIR SUPPLY UNIT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the vehicle tool kit.

-- Remove the battery terminal covers.

Vehicles with High-Voltage System:

-- Remove the auxiliary battery. Refer to AUXILIARY BATTERY A1, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the battery terminal cover.

Procedure  :

-- Switch on the Battery Tester:VAS 6161  and select "new vehicle quality control test".

-- Measure the voltage between the battery terminal clamps with the Battery Tester:VAS 6161  .

-- The following actions are derived from the test result:

Battery tester display: Action:
"Battery good" No further measure necessary.
"Immediately fully charge." Charging the battery. Refer to BATTERY A, CHARGING .
"Battery defective" Charge the battery and attach the "faulty battery" mirror hanging tag. Refer to BATTERY A, CHARGING

-- Enter the charge level on the Maintenance Table.

NOTE:

When using the Battery Tester:VAS 6161  it must be ensured that the most current software is being used.

If when measuring the charge level (SOC) with the Battery Tester:VAS 6161  is not possible measure the battery voltage. Refer to BATTERY VOLTAGE, MEASURING .
