Brake Pads, Removing And Installing, Ten-Piston Steel And Ceramic Brake: Removing
-- Remove the brake caliper. Refer to BRAKE CALIPER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, TEN-PISTON STEEL AND CERAMIC BRAKE .
-- Remove the contact -1- for the brake pad wear sensor from the brake pads, during this procedure, pay attention to the clips -2-.
- If the clips go missing, the brake pad wear indicator wire must be replaced.
If the Brake Pads are Being Replaced:
There is a risk of contamination and paint damage from leaking brake fluid.
- Check the brake fluid level before pushing the brake caliper piston back into the brake cylinders.
-- If the brake fluid is up to the "MAX" marking on used brake pads, it must be extracted.
-- Evacuate the brake fluid -2- in the brake fluid reservoir with the screen installed -1-, using the Brake Filling and Bleeding Equipment:VAS 6860 or Brake Charger/Bleeder Unit:VAS 5234 (example illustration).
-- Position the Piston Resetting Tool:T10145 with a wooden block -1- placed between it and the old brake pads and push the brake caliper pistons back completely into the brake caliper.
Continuation:
- Label the brake pads when removing if they are going to be used again. Install in the same position, otherwise the braking effect will be uneven.
-- Pull out the brake pads -2 and 3- one after the other toward the center of the brake caliper.
-- Unclip the brake pad retaining plate -1-.
- If reusing the brake pads check the brake pad springs -1 and 2- and the brake pad retaining plate for damage, if necessary replace.
- The brake pad springs must be completely locked into the brake caliper.
