Brake Caliper, Replacing, Six-Piston Ceramic Brake: Removing
-- Remove the affected front wheel, while observing the safety precautions for vehicles with ceramic brakes. Refer to WHEELS AND TIRES .
-- Insert the Brake Pedal Actuator:V.A.G 1869/2 between the brake pedal and driver seat. Preload the brake pedal at least 60 mm.
By doing this, the valves in the brake master cylinder are closed and the brake fluid reservoir does not run empty.
-- Place a cloth underneath to catch any brake fluid leaking out.
-- Remove the protective cap -3- from the bleed screw -1-.
-- Attach the container bleed hose -2- to the bleed screw.
Leaking brake fluid increases the risk of injury.
Risk of skin irritation and injury.
- Wear safety gloves.
-- Open the bleed screw to reduce the pressure in the hydraulic system.
-- Close the bleed screw and remove the container.
- Do not remove the Brake Pedal Actuator:V.A.G 1869/2 .
-- Remove the union bolt -1-.
-- Free up the brake hose -3- on the bracket -arrow-.
-- Detach the brake hose from the brake caliper and remove it.
-- Close the open brake hose and brake line with a plug.
There is a risk of contamination and paint damage from leaking brake fluid.
- Rinse off any leaking brake fluid immediately using plenty of water.
-- Remove the brake pads. Refer to BRAKE PADS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, SIX-PISTON CERAMIC BRAKE .
