Oil Pump, Removing And Installing: Installing
- Replace the O-ring after removal.
-- If a new oil pump is being installed, fill with some clean engine oil via the intake duct and turn the oil pump several turns.
-- Install the bolts -arrows- for the oil pump by hand all the way.
- It still must be possible to move the oil pump by hand.
- The timing mechanism drive chain must not be installed.
-- Remove the protective shields if there are still protective shields on the Oil Pump Alignment Plate Oil Pump Alignment Plate :T03005A magnets.
-- Check if there are shavings on the magnets of the oil pump alignment plate.
- The contact surfaces on the crankshaft, tools and drive chain sprocket must be clean.
-- Position the Oil Pump Alignment Plate - Washer :T03005A /1A and Oil Pump Alignment Plate :T03005A on the crankshaft journal and tighten the two bolts -1- for the flywheel to 30 Nm.
- The oil pump is pulled by magnets and held in the installation position.
-- Remove the Crankshaft Locking Pin :T40069 .
-- Push the crankshaft, in axial bearing play, toward the belt pulley side -arrow 2- and secure it in this position using the Trim Removal Wedge :3409 .
-- Lightly press and hold the oil pump in the axial bearing clearance in the direction of the transmission side -arrow 1-.
-- Tighten the bolts in steps in the sequence: -1, 2 and 3-. Refer to Figure.
-- Install the Crankshaft Locking Pin :T40069 in the securing hole and tighten to 15 Nm.
-- Remove the bolts -1- and remove the Oil Pump Alignment Plate Oil Pump Alignment Plate :T03005A and the Oil Pump Alignment Plate - Washer :T03005A /1A .
-- Position the chain on the oil pump and crankshaft.
TIP:
The chain tensioner can only be installed if the chain is correct on the crankshaft.
-- Install the chain tensioner. Refer to TIMING MECHANISM DRIVE CHAIN, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Install the oil pan upper section. Refer to OIL PAN UPPER SECTION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the Locking Pin (3 pc.) :T40011 for the chain tensioner.
-- Remove the Camshaft Lock :T40264 .
-- Remove the Crankshaft Locking Pin :T40069 .
-- Valve Timing, Checking. Refer to CAMSHAFT TIMING CHAIN, REMOVING FROM CAMSHAFTS .
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
-- Install the camshaft adjustment valves. Refer to INTAKE AND EXHAUST VALVES .
-- Install the crankcase ventilation module. Refer to CRANKCASE VENTILATION MODULE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Install the lower timing chain cover. Refer to LOWER TIMING CHAIN COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
TIP:
Degrease the Trim Removal Wedge :3409 thoroughly, as it is usually used for body interior work.
After removing or replacing the oil pump the adaptation values for the chain length must be adapted again.
-- Connect the => Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
-- Select Diagnostic operating mode and Start diagnostics .
-- Select the Select individual test tab and select the following tree structure consecutively:
- Drive (display depends on the model)
- Select the engine code and engine (display depends on the model)
- 0001 - OBD-Capable Systems or Diagnostic-Capable System
- 0001 - Engine Electronics
- 0001 - Engine electronics, functions
- 0001 - Adaptation diagnostic chain length
