Catalytic Converter, Removing And Installing: Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following.
- Replace the seal and self-locking nuts after disassembly.
-- Bring the catalytic converter and screw-type clamp -3- into the installation position but do not tighten yet.
-- Bring the heat shield -1- for the bevel box into the installation position and tighten the bolts -arrows-.
-- Install the bolt -2- all the way but do not tighten.
-- Install the subframe. Refer to SUBFRAME, LOWERING .
-- Install the driveshaft. Refer to DRIVESHAFT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Install the bolts -arrows- all the way but do not tighten.
-- Aligning the catalytic converter:
- Dimension -a- = 34 to 42 mm
-- Tighten the bolts -arrows-.
-- Tighten the bolt -1-.
TIP:
If necessary, push the heat shield slightly to the side in order to tighten the bolt -1- from above.
-- Tighten the screw-type clamp -2-.
-- Check the adjustment dimension of the catalytic converter.
-- Install the Oxygen Sensor 1 Before Catalytic Converter -GX10-. Refer to HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Install the air filter housing. Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Install the rear catalytic converter or exhaust pipe. Refer to Emissions Control System ; Rear Catalytic Converter/Exhaust Pipe, Removing and Installing.
-- Install the exhaust system without tension. Refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING WITHOUT TENSION .
If the catalytic converter with particulate filter was replaced, the ash load value must be reset using the => Vehicle Diagnostic Tester .
-- Connect the => Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
-- Select Diagnostic operating mode and Start diagnostics .
-- Select the Select individual test tab and select the following tree structure consecutively:
- Drive (display depends on the model)
- Select the engine code and engine (display depends on the model)
- 0001 - OBD-Capable Systems or Diagnostic-Capable System
- 0001 - Engine electronics, functions
- 0001 - Engine electronics, functions or 0001 - Steps after replacing component
