Fuel Level Sensor 2 -G169-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING: Removing

-- Observe the safety instructions. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .

-- Follow the guidelines for clean working conditions. Refer to GUIDELINES FOR CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .

-- Move the front seats all the way forward into the highest position.

-- Switch off the ignition.

-- Remove the bench seat. Refer to BENCH SEAT/SINGLE SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

CAUTION:

Risk of a fire due to leaking fuel.

Leaking fuel may ignite and start a fire.

- Drain the fuel tank when working on the fuel system.

The fuel level sensor may only be a maximum of ¹ /₄ full when removing the fuel delivery unit.

-- If required, drain the fuel tank. Refer to FUEL TANK, DRAINING .

-- Unclip the left sealing flange cover -1- at the tabs -arrows- using the Trim Removal Wedge:3409 .

-- Release the connector safety catch and disconnect the connector -1- (shown on a TDI AWD vehicles).

-- TDI vehicles: release the connector safety catch and disconnect the connector -2-.

-- If installed, disengage the connector -3- on the sealing flange and move it to the side.

The fuel level sensor may only be a maximum of ¹ /₄ full when removing the fuel delivery unit.

-- Remove the locking ring using the Wrench - Fuel Sending Unit:T10202 .

TFSI Vehicles:

-- Remove the sealing flange and seal at the fuel tank opening.

-- Reach through the opening in the fuel tank, release the connector retainer -arrow- and disconnect the connector -1-.

-- Reach through the opening in the fuel tank, release the connector safety catches -A arrows- and press the connector -1- out of the retainer -arrow B-.

-- Reach through the opening in the fuel tank, release the tab -2- on the retainers and at the same time remove the Fuel Level Sensor 2 -G169- upward -arrow C-.

-- Carefully remove the Fuel Level Sensor 2 -G169- with the suction jet pump a little from the fuel tank opening.

-- Remove the seal -2- on the fuel tank opening.

-- Unclip the Fuel Level Sensor 2 -G169- -item 3- from the suction jet pump -1- and carefully remove it from the fuel tank opening.

Be careful not to bend the floater arm on the fuel level sensor when removing.
