Brake Pads, Removing And Installing, Single-Piston Brake Excluding 1ZD, Dual-Piston Brakes: Removing

Label the brake pads when removing if they are going to be used again. Install in the same position, otherwise the braking effect will be uneven.

-- Remove the affected front wheel. Refer to WHEEL, CHANGING .

-- Disconnect the connector -arrow- for the brake pad wear indicator contact from the right brake caliper.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- by counterholding at the guide pins -1 and 2-.

-- Remove the brake caliper.

CAUTION:

There is a risk of damaging the brake hose due to the weight of the brake caliper.

- Never let the brake caliper hang on the brake hose.

-- Hang the brake caliper using a suitable wire.

CAUTION:

There is a risk of damaging the brake caliper piston if handled incorrectly.

- Never activate the brakes if the brake caliper is removed.

-- Remove the outer brake pad -1- first at an angle outward.

-- Remove the brake pad in between the tabs -arrow- of the springs -3- toward the front.

-- Repeat the procedure on the inner brake pad.

-- Remove the springs -2- from the brake carrier -1-.
