Refrigerant Lines With Inner Heat EXCHANGER, Removing And Installing, RS 3: Removing

-- Remove the engine cover. Refer to ENGINE COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Loosen the hose clamps -2 and 3-, remove the air duct hose.

-- Drain the coolant. Refer to COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING .

-- Discharge the refrigerant circuit. Refer to A/C Service Station, Connecting or Working with A/C Service Station (1 Of 2) / Working with A/C Service Station (2 Of 2) .

-- Loosen the hose clamp -1-.

-- Disconnect the hose -3- from the air duct pipe, to do this, press the release buttons on both sides.

-- Remove the bolt -arrow- and the air duct pipe.

-- Place a cloth under the heater core for any leaking coolant.

-- Mark the installation position of the coolant hoses (shown without the heat shield mat).

-- Lift the clamps -arrows-, remove the coolant hoses.

-- Hold the coolant hoses downward and allow the coolant to drain.

-- Unclip the wiring guide -1- and free up the wire.

-- Remove the spring nut -3-.

-- Fold the heat shield mat -2- forward and down in direction of -arrow-.

-- Release the retainer in direction of -arrow-, pull the heat shield -1- off to the left and remove it.

-- Remove the coolant expansion tank -5- and move it to the side with the hoses still attached.

CAUTION:

Danger of frostbite due to refrigerant coming out under pressure.

Frostbite on the skin and other parts of the body is possible.

- Wear safety gloves.

- Wear protective eyewear.

- Evacuate or drain refrigerant and open the refrigerant circuit immediately.

- If more than 10 minutes elapse after extracting or draining the refrigerant and the refrigerant circuit has not been opened, extract or drain the refrigerant again. Pressure develops in the refrigerant circuit due to evaporation.

-- Remove the bolt -6-.

-- Remove the refrigerant line -4- from the expansion valve.

-- Remove the nuts -1- and remove the refrigerant lines -2 and 3-.

-- Free up and remove the refrigerant line -4- with the inner heat exchanger.

-- Seal the open lines and connections with clean plugs from the Engine Bung Set :VAS6122 .
