Battery -A-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, IN ENGINE/MOTOR COMPARTMENT (0K0): Notes

For subsequent work on the SCR system, wait until all of the reducing agent has returned after switching off the ignition.

Removing

-- Switch off the ignition and all electrical equipment. Place the ignition key outside of the vehicle.

-- TFSI: remove the air filter housing. Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- TDI: remove the air filter housing. Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the cover -6- over the battery ground terminal post.

-- Loosen the nut -5- several turns and remove the battery ground cable terminal -4- from the battery negative terminal.

-- Open the cover -7- over the battery positive terminal.

-- Remove the wire -1- and free it up.

-- Loosen the nut -2- a few turns and remove the battery terminal clamp -3- for the positive cable from the battery positive terminal.

-- Free up the wiring harness.

-- Remove the nut -3- and disengage the retaining bracket -4- on the opposite side.

-- Remove the bolt -1- at the battery bracket -2-.

-- Remove the battery -5- from the battery tray and lift upward out of the engine/motor compartment.
