Battery, 48 V -A6-, VISUALLY INSPECTING AND CLASSIFYING

Vehicle Diagnostic Tester
Diagnostic Box: VAS 5581 if needed

Procedure

CAUTION:

Health risk due to toxic dust and fluids.

- Never work on a lithium-ion battery with a short circuit.

CAUTION:

There is a risk of burns due to a hot lithium-ion battery.

It is possible to burn hands.

- Do not touch a hot battery.

- Wear safety gloves.

The Battery, 48 V -A6- must be checked for:

Cracks in the housing for the Battery, 48 V -A6-.
Deformities in the housing for the Battery, 48 V -A6-.
Changes in color due to temperature effects and housing discoloration.
Leaking electrolyte.
Contact damage.
Presence of legible information and warning labels.
Corrosion damage.

-- After the visual inspection, the Battery, 48 V -A6- must be classified.

-- Connect the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.

With the Battery, 48 V -A6- removed, use the High-Voltage Diagnostic Box:VAS 5581 with the Adapter Cable: VAS 5581/13 . The CAN bus terminating resistor on the Diagnostic Box:VAS 5581 is preset to 120 Ohm and must not be changed.

-- Select the Diagnostic mode and start the diagnosis.

-- Select the Test plan tab.

-- Select the Select individual test button and select the following tree structure consecutively:

0021 - 48V Battery, Conditional Assessment

-- Start the selected program and follow the instructions on the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester display.
