Airbag Unit With Igniter, Removing And Installing: Installing

Install in the reverse order of removal while noting the following:

CAUTION:

Pyrotechnical components can deploy unintentionally.

Risk of injury.

- Discharge the static electricity: quickly touch the door striker.

Make sure the connectors are pushed in all the way and that they engage audibly.
Make sure the wires are not pinched.

-- Connect the connector -1- and push in to attach to the pockets on the steering wheel.

-- Connect the connector -2- all the way onto the Steering Column Electronics Control Module -J527- -arrow A-.

-- Push in the connector lock -3- -arrow B-, which will lock the connector.

-- Position the driver side airbag in the steering wheel and press on until it audibly engages.

-- If the battery was disconnected, perform the required steps after connecting the battery. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .

CAUTION:

Risk of airbag deployment.

Risk of injury.

- Switching on the ignition (key/button) after assembly may only be done when the driver seat is positioned all the way back.

-- Check and erase the airbag control module DTC memory because faults can be stored from when the connectors are disconnected. Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
