Airbag Control Module -J234-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING: Removing

-- Pay attention to the safety precautions when working with pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .

CAUTION:

Risk of damaging the airbag control module. If moisture enters the connectors, they will corrode.

- After disconnecting, cover or seal the control module connectors to prevent moisture from entering.

-- Remove the center console. Refer to CENTER CONSOLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the front bracket for the driver and front passenger side center console. Refer to CENTER CONSOLE BRACKET, REMOVING AND INSTALLING

-- Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .

-- Remove the nut -3- in the front of the driver footwell.

CAUTION:

Pyrotechnical components can deploy unintentionally.

Risk of injury.

- Discharge the static electricity: quickly touch the door striker.

-- Disconnect the connector in the front of the passenger footwell, to do this release the connector catches, and open the securing clip -5- on the connector -arrow-.

-- Remove the nuts -1 and 4-.

-- Carefully lift the airbag control module -2- from the threaded pins and remove it toward the passenger side. (Shown without instrument panel and heater and A/C unit.)
