Headliner, Removing And Installing, SPORTBACK: Removing

-- Pay attention to the safety precautions when working with pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN WORKING WITH PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS .

-- Move the rear headrests into the lowest position.

-- Remove the luggage compartment side trim panel on the front passenger side. Refer to LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT SIDE TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, SPORTBACK .

-- Lower the headliner. Refer to HEADLINER, LOWERING, SPORTBACK .

-- Fold the rear seat backrests forward.

-- Move the front seats all the way to the front and then into their highest position. Then position the backrest as far back as it will go.

-- Open the right rear door.

A second technician is required to remove the headliner.

-- Pull the headliner -1- slightly toward the front and lower it on the right side and carefully guide to the lid opening -arrow-.

CAUTION:

Increased risk of damaging the headliner when removing due to incorrect handling.

- Make sure that all the installation components in the procedure description are removed.

- Guide the headliner using care and with the help of an additional technician to the lid opening.

-- Move out the headliner by turning correspondingly and lower it carefully through the lid opening.

-- To do so if necessary bend the headliner on the edges lightly and guide it past the constrictions.
