Crankshaft Needle Bearing, Replacing

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

• Bearing Installer - Bearing Press Piece: VW207C

Conditions:

• Always replace the needle bearing -arrow- after the engine and dual clutch transmission are separated.
• The front edges of the internal puller must not be broken off.

Needle Bearing, Removing

-- The internal puller must be positioned behind the needle rim -upper arrow-.

-- Remove the needle bearing -1- using the Internal Puller: VAS 251 635  -item A- and Counter Support: VAS 251 621  -item B- from the crankshaft -2-.

Installing

-- Clean the bearing seat in the crankshaft and apply a thin coat of grease.

-- Drive the needle bearing into the crankshaft up to the installation depth using the Bearing Installer - Bearing Press Piece: VW 207 C  .

Installation depth dimension a = 2.0 mm

• If the needle bearing is unintentionally pushed in to deeply, it must be replaced, because it will be damaged when it is removed again.
