Trailing Arm With Mounting Bracket, Removing And Installing: Installing
Install in the reverse order of removal while noting the following:
The trailing arm/wheel bearing housing threaded connection must only be tightened when all other components (especially the spring and strut) of the respective wheel suspension have already been assembled. To tighten, suspension must be unloaded. Only now do the trailing arm -2- and wheel bearing housing -1- move into the position required -arrows-.
Complete the Following Steps in the Exact Order Specified.
-- Install the trailing arm and mounting bracket with bolts -1 and 2- on wheel bearing housing but do not yet tighten.
-- Install the Support Device: VAS6931/1 -A- to the brake rotor -1- using two wheel bolts -2-.
-- Position the Engine and Gearbox Jack: VAS6931 -B- on the support device.
-- Lift the suspension, until the mounting bracket attaches neatly to the body.
There is a risk of an accident when lowering or lifting the vehicle when the engine and gearbox jack is underneath it.
- Never lift or lower the vehicle when the engine and gearbox jack is underneath it.
- Never leave the engine and gearbox jack under the vehicle any longer than necessary.
-- Tighten the bolts -arrows- on the old impression or the previously applied marking.
-- Secure the line -2- to the mounting bracket -1-.
-- Lower the suspension again, using the Engine and Gearbox Jack: VAS6931 and remove the Support Device: VAS6931/1 .
-- Install the coil spring. Refer to SPRING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Tighten the trailing arm bolts -1 and 2- to the tightening specification while making sure the components are in their correct positions. Refer to Installing .
-- Secure the wire -arrows-.
