Spring, Removing And Installing, Multi-Link Suspension: Removing

-- Remove the wheel. Refer to WHEELS AND TIRES .
-- If equipped, remove the transverse link stone chip protection. Refer to TRANSVERSE LINK STONE CHIP PROTECTION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Push the tab -arrow- inward and remove the assembly aid -1- outward.
-- Insert the spring tensioner -3-.
- Spring Compressor Kit - Spring Retainer with Inserts: VAG1752/3A for FWD vehicles or Spring Compressor Kit - Spring Retainers: VAG1752/21 for AWD vehicles

CAUTION:
There is a risk of injury if the coil spring pops out suddenly.
It is possible that parts of the body may become bruised.
- Note the instructions that follow.
- Make sure that the coil spring is seated correctly -arrow- in the Spring Compressor Kit - Spring Retainer with Inserts: VAG1752/3A .
-- Tension the coil spring until it can be removed.
TIP:
Use a wrench or a reversible ratchet to tighten the spring compressor.
