Tie Rod, Removing And Installing: Installing

-- Make sure the correct tie rod end is installed on each side.

Identification:

I -

Right Tie Rod End, Identification "A"

II -

Left Tie Rod End, Identification "B"

-- Turn the steering wheel in the straight position.

-- Install the new clamps and boot on the tie rod.

-- Twist tie rod far enough into tie rod end until dimension -a- is obtained.

• Dimension -a- = 373 ± 1 mm

-- Twist the tie rod into steering gear and tighten to tightening specification.

1. Torque Wrench Insert - Open Jaw: VAG1923 
2. Torque Wrench

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

-- Install the boot. Refer to BOOT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Perform a vehicle alignment. Refer to AXLE ALIGNMENT .
