Overview - Steering Gear, Tie Rods

Right Tie Rod End
- Check the dust caps for damage and correct seating
Nut
- 80 Nm
- When loosening and tightening, counterhold at the tie rod end
Spring Clamp
Boot
- Check for damage
- Replace after removing
- Must not be twisted when toe is being adjusted
- Do not crumple the boot
- Do not bring into contact with hard or sharp objects.
- Grease the sealing locations using the Steering Gear Grease. Refer to the Parts Information for the allocation.
- Removing and Installing. Refer to BOOT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Clamp
- Replace after removing
- Install the new clamp using Locking Pliers: VAS6199 .
Tie Rod
- 100 Nm
- If faulty replace the tie rod end with it.
- Removing and Installing. Refer to TIE ROD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Steering Gear Housing
Left Tie Rod End
- Check the dust caps for damage and correct seating
Nut
- 80 Nm
- When loosening and tightening, counterhold at the tie rod end
Spring Clamp
