Lock Carrier, Removing And Installing, RS3: Removing

-- Remove the noise insulation. Refer to OVERVIEW - NOISE INSULATION .

-- Remove the bumper cover. Refer to BUMPER COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Release the retainers -arrows- and remove the air duct.

-- Repeat the procedure on the opposite side.

-- Loosen the clamp -2- and remove the air duct hose.

-- Seal the open lines and connections with clean plugs from the Engine Bung Set: VAS 6122  .

-- Loosen the hose clamp -1- and remove the air duct hose.

-- Seal the open lines and connections with clean plugs from the Engine Bung Set: VAS 6122  .

-- Disconnect the connectors -1 and 2- and free up the wiring harness -3-.

-- Remove the headlamps. Refer to HEADLAMP, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Disconnect the lid lock release cable at the coupling and free it up on the lock carrier. Refer to OVERVIEW - RELEASE CABLE .

-- Disconnect the connector -1- and free up the wiring harness.

-- Disconnect the connector -2- from the pedestrian protection crash sensor and free up the wiring harness.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and free up the coolant pipe -1-.

-- Remove the air filter housing. Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the fan shroud. Refer to FAN SHROUD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Radiator Mount with Catch:

-- Disconnect the left and right radiator mount catches -arrows- with a side cutter. Push the top of the coolant radiator slightly toward the rear.

Radiator Mount with Threaded Connection:

-- Remove the bolt -arrow- on the left and right. Push the top of the coolant radiator slightly toward the rear.

-- Unclip the left and right sealing piece -1- using the Pry Lever: 80 - 200  .

-- Position the Engine Support Bridge: 10-222A  as shown.

2. Engine Support Bridge - Engine Bracket: 10-222A/1A 
3. Cross Bar : 10-222/100 
4. Engine Support Bridge - Engine Support 4: 10-222A/4 
5. Engine Support Bridge - Spindle: 10-222A/11 
6. Engine Support Bridge - Engine Bracket: 10-222A/1A 

-- Engage the carabiner hook from the left rear Engine Support Bridge - Spindle: 10-222A/11  to the engine lifting eye -arrow-.

-- Lightly tension the spindle, but do not lift.

-- Remove the bolt -arrow-.

-- For reinstallation, mark the installation position of the lock carrier on both sides of the lock carrier -arrow-.

-- Have a second technician hold the lock carrier and remove the bolts -1 and 3-. 

-- Remove the lock carrier -2- with a second technician slightly forward and at the same time remove the radiator module from the mount.

-- Remove the left and right radiator mount and secure the radiator module -1- at the Engine Support Bracket: T40093/3  -item 2- with a tensioning strap -3-.

-- Remove the lock carrier.

-- The following components must also be removed if the lock carrier is being replaced:

• Bumper carrier. Refer to BUMPER CARRIER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
• Hood latch. Refer to HOOD LATCH, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
