Transmission Fluid Cooler, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Engage the "P" position.

-- Remove the battery tray. Refer to BATTERY TRAY, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

CAUTION:

The cooling system is under pressure when the engine is warm. Risk of scalding due to hot steam and hot coolant.

Burns to skin and other parts of the body are possible.

- Wear safety gloves.

- Wear protective eyewear.

- Reduce the pressure: cover the coolant reservoir cap with a cloth and carefully open.

-- Open the coolant expansion tank cap -arrow-.

-- Place absorbent cloths on the transmission fluid cooler to catch any escaping coolant.

-- Clamp off the coolant hoses -1 and 2- with the Hose Clamps - Up To 25mm: 3094 .

-- Loosen the hose clamps -arrows- and remove the coolant hoses.

-- Seal the open lines and connections with clean plugs from the Engine Bung Set: VAS6122 .

-- Place absorbent cloths on the transmission to catch any escaping coolant.

CAUTION:

Transmission damage due to contaminated transmission fluid.

- Coolant must not drip into the transmission.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and the transmission fluid cooler -A-.
