Fuel Delivery Unit, Removing And Installing, TFSI Vehicles: Removing
-- Observe the safety instructions. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
-- Follow the guidelines for clean working conditions. Refer to GUIDELINES FOR CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .
Risk of a fire due to leaking fuel.
Leaking fuel may ignite and start a fire.
- Drain the fuel tank when working on the fuel system.
- The fuel tank may only be a maximum of 1 /4 full when removing the fuel delivery unit.
-- If required, drain the fuel tank. Refer to FUEL TANK, DRAINING .
-- De-energize the 48 Volt system and disconnect the battery. Refer to BATTERY A, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING, VEHICLES WITH HIGH-VOLTAGE SYSTEM, (0K3) .
-- Move the front seats all the way forward into the highest position.
-- Remove the bench seat. Refer to REAR BENCH SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Fold the insulation mat over the sealing flange cover to the side. Separate it at the perforations if necessary to do so.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and the sealing flange cover -1-.
-- Disconnect the connectors -1 and 2- on the sealing flange by releasing the connector safety catch.
-- Equipped on some models: disconnect the fuel line -1- to the parking/auxiliary heater metering pump at the sealing flange. Disconnect the connector couplings. Refer to CONNECTOR COUPLINGS, DISCONNECTING .
-- Disconnect the fuel line -2- from the sealing flange. Disconnect the connector couplings. Refer to CONNECTOR COUPLINGS, DISCONNECTING .
- The fuel tank may only be a maximum of 1 /4 full when removing the fuel delivery unit.
-- Remove the locking ring using the Wrench - Fuel Sending Unit:T10202 .
-- Pull the sealing flange -2- just slightly out of the opening in the fuel tank and remove the gasket -1-.
-- Carefully pull the sealing flange with the fuel lines out of the fuel tank opening.
-- Disconnect the connectors -1 and 3- on the bottom of the sealing flange by unlocking the connector safety catch.
-- Disconnect the fuel line -2-. Disconnect the connector couplings. Refer to CONNECTOR COUPLINGS, DISCONNECTING .
-- In vehicles with a parking/auxiliary heater, lay aside the sealing flange with the parking/auxiliary heater fuel extraction line connected.
-- Version 1: reach through the opening in the fuel tank and disconnect the suction jet line -arrow-. Disconnect the connector couplings. Refer to CONNECTOR COUPLINGS, DISCONNECTING .
-- Version 2: reach through the opening in the fuel tank, detach the suction jet line -arrow-, and disconnect it. Disconnect the connector couplings. Refer to CONNECTOR COUPLINGS, DISCONNECTING .
-- Reach through the opening in the fuel tank and press the retainers -1, 2 and 3- in the direction of -arrow- one after the other to release the fuel delivery unit -4-.

- Lay cloths below to catch the leaking fuel.
-- Carefully remove the fuel delivery unit from the fuel tank opening.
