Front Thorax Airbag With Igniter, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Remove the backrest cover. Refer to BACKREST COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the cushion on the backrest in the area of the thorax airbag (side sill side) until the thorax airbag is accessible.

Vehicles with standard or sport seat

-- Disengage the cover and cushion on the backrest and free it up. Refer to BACKREST COVER AND CUSHION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Continuation for all vehicles

Vehicles with Comfort Seat

-- Disengage the rubber tabs -2- in the thorax airbag area (side sill side) and on the backrest frame.

-- Push the cushion on the backrest side sill side in the area of the thorax airbag to the side.

CAUTION:

Pyrotechnical components can deploy unintentionally.

Risk of injury.

- Discharge the static electricity: quickly touch the door striker.

-- Release the connector lock -3- -arrow-.

-- Disconnect the connector -2- from the thorax airbag igniter.

-- Pull the cover and cushion near the thorax airbag as far forward as possible.

-- Remove the bolt -1-.

-- Disengage the thorax airbag -4- with the hooks -5- from the backrest frame.

-- Remove the thorax airbag -4- downward from the pocket sewn into the cover.
