Rain/Light Recognition Sensor G397, Removing And Installing: Installing
Preparing the removed sensor for installation
-- Release the retainers -arrows- and remove the spring -1-.
-- Press on the new spring until it audibly engages.
-- Remove the silicone pad -2- without any residue.
-- Clean the adhesive surface -1- using a lint-free cloth.
-- Remove the silicone paper -1-.
Conditions
- The protective film -2- remains on the silicone pad as an assembly aid.
-- Center the silicone pad -2- on the sensor -3- using the clear protective film -1-.
-- Press on the silicone pad onto the sensor without leaving air bubbles.
-- Remove the protective film -2-.
Tip
To avoid contaminating the silicone pad, remove the protective film just before installing it.
Preparing the new sensor for installation
-- Lightly press together the grip surfaces -arrows- and remove the protective cap -2-, at the same time do not touch the humidity sensor.

To avoid contaminating the silicone pad, remove the protective cap just before installing it.
Installing the sensor in the vehicle
-- Clean the adhesive surface on the windshield with cleaning solution. Refer to the Parts Information.
-- Remove the remaining silicone without residue.
-- Apply cleaning solution on the entire silicone pad. Refer to Parts Information.
-- Insert the sensor -4- into the mount -2-.
Conditions
- The sensor must not have any embedded objects or bubbles between it and the windshield.
-- Press on the clips -1- and -5- until they audibly engage.
-- Connect the connector -3-.
-- Install the interior rearview mirror. Refer to INTERIOR REARVIEW MIRROR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
If the sensor was replaced, the test plan for replacing the sensor must be performed.
-- Perform the "Rain/Light Recognition Sensor, Replacing" function using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tool. Refer to Diagnostic Entries .
