Backrest, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Remove the front seat. Refer to FRONT SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Secure the front seat to the Engine/Transmission Holder - Seat Repair Fixture :VAS 6136  . Refer to FRONT SEAT, MOUNTING ON FIXTURE FOR SEAT REPAIR .

-- Comfort seat: remove the backrest cover. Refer to BACKREST COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, COMFORT SEAT .

-- Remove the tunnel-side seat frame trim panel. Refer to SEAT FRAME TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, TUNNEL-SIDE .

-- Remove the seat frame trim panel on the side sill side and remove the bracket:

-- If installed, remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the child seat anchor -1- from the front seat.

-- Disconnect the wiring harness connectors for the backrest and free up the disconnected wiring harnesses. Refer to MODULAR WIRING ROUTING, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .

TIP:

The wiring harness between the connector station and the thorax airbag is continuous.

-- Press the safety catch -arrow A- to disconnect the connector -1-

-- Remove the pneumatic line -2- by lifting the safety catch slightly with a small flat-head screwdriver -arrow B-.

-- Disconnect the pneumatic lines -1- to the seat bolster inflation adjuster on the left and right side of the seat by lifting the safety catch slightly using a small flat-head screwdriver -arrow-

-- Remove the left and right bolts -1 and 3- from the backrest hinge.

-- If equipped, remove the retainer -2- on the bracket.

-- Loosen the backrest from the seat and remove it while guiding out the wiring harnesses.
