Cover And Cushion, Removing And Installing, A3 Backrest Cushion: Removing
-- Remove the rear seat backrest. Refer to REAR SEAT BACKREST, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Place the rear seat backrest on a clean surface.
-- Remove the headrest. Refer to HEADREST, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the inner mounting pin. Refer to INNER MOUNTING PIN, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the locking mechanism trim. Refer to LOCKING MECHANISM TRIM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry the clamping strips -1 and 2- for the cover out of the locking mechanism -3-.
Right Rear Seat Backrest:
-- Remove the rear seat belt guide in the center. Refer to REAR SEAT BELT GUIDE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Equipped on some models: remove the backrest with pass-through. Refer to BACKREST WITH PASS-THROUGH, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Continuation:
-- Use the Trim Removal Wedge: 3409 to unclip the cover clips -arrows- from the backrest frame near the inner mounting pin.
-- Unclip the outer bearing sleeve -1- from the rear seat backrest with the Wedge Set: T10383/1 in direction of -arrow-.
-- Starting at the locking mechanism, pry off the clamping strip -2- for the cover from the backrest frame using a flat-head screwdriver -3- in direction of -arrow-.
-- Move the cover and cushion -1- as far upward as possible until the headrest tube is visible with the headrest guide.
-- Push the tabs for the headrest guide -2- inward -arrows- using pliers, and at the same time, remove the headrest guide from the backrest frame -3-.
-- Remove the backrest cover -1- and backrest cushion from the backrest frame.
