Backrest Cover And Cushion, Removing And Installing, A3 Sport Seat: Removing

-- Remove the front seat. Refer to FRONT SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Secure the front seat to the Engine/Transmission Holder - Seat Repair Fixture: VAS6136 . Refer to FRONT SEAT, MOUNTING ON FIXTURE FOR SEAT REPAIR .

-- Remove the backrest cover. Refer to BACKREST COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Disconnect the wiring harness connectors for the backrest and free up the disconnected wiring harnesses. Refer to WIRE ROUTING, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .

-- Remove the front backrest. Refer to FRONT BACKREST, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Detach the molding -1, 2 and 3- at the backrest frame by hand or using the T-Handle Hook: 3438 .

-- Open the backrest cover on the clamping strips starting on the tunnel side.

-- To do this, press the front side of the cover -1- with the U-shaped profile inward -arrow A- and remove the rear side of the cover -2- with the flat channel -arrow B-.

-- Remove the clips/expanding rivets -arrows-.

-- Equipped on some models: free up the backrest heating wiring harness.

-- Carefully loosen the cushion from the backrest frame and pull as far forward as possible.

-- Remove the front thorax airbag. Refer to FRONT THORAX AIRBAG WITH IGNITER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- A3 driver seat: if necessary, remove the center airbag. Refer to Thorax Airbags .

-- Version with release button: release the wire clip -1- on the headrest guide by reaching behind the cushion by hand, pressing down the release button -2- on the headrest guide -arrow A-, and removing the headrest from the catch at the same time.

-- Version without release button: release the wire clip -4- on the headrest guide using a flat-head screwdriver -arrow B-.

-- Remove the headrest with the cushion and cover -3- upward from the backrest frame -arrow C-.

-- Detach the cushion and cover from the backrest frame and remove upward; if necessary, guide out the wiring harness for the backrest heating.
