Battery Interrupt Igniter, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Pay attention to the safety precautions when working with pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .

-- Remove the luggage compartment floor.

-- Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .

-- Open the cover -2- over the battery positive terminal.

-- Loosen the nut -3- several turns.

-- Slightly push down the main fuse panel -1-, this will release the retainer -5-.

-- Afterwards pivot the main fuse panel to the side until the guide -6- is free.

-- Remove the battery ground cable terminal clamp -4- of the positive wire from the battery terminal.

-- Release the latches in the direction of -arrow- and open the flap -1-.

-- Remove the nut -6- and detach the wire -7-.

-- Press the wires to the side.

-- Release the catch and open the lid -4- in the direction of -arrow-.

-- Remove the nuts -3 and 5-.

CAUTION:

Pyrotechnical components can deploy unintentionally.

Risk of injury.

- Discharge the static electricity: quickly touch the door striker.

-- Remove the Battery Interrupt Igniter -N253-.

-- Disconnect the connector -1- on the ignition -2- to do so release the connector lock with a small flat-head screwdriver.
