Outer Rear Seat Backrest Locking Mechanism Trim, Removing And Installing, A3: Removing

-- Unlock the rear seat backrest.

-- Remove the respective rear headrest. Refer to HEADREST, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Make sure the button (indicator) is in the >>up<< position.

-- Using a waterproof felt-tip pen, make a mark -arrow- on a small flat-head screwdriver with the distance -a- to the tip.

The locking tab -1- on the inside of the trim -3- is slightly difficult to reach.

-- On the inside of the trim -3-, insert the small flat-head screwdriver -4- under the trim as far as the marking and position it at the locking tab -1-.

-- Use the flat-head screwdriver -4- to unclip the locking tab -1- from the tab on the locking mechanism -arrow-.

-- At the same time, use the Trim Removal Wedge: 3409 -2- to pry the trim -3- upward and out of the tab -1-.

TIP:

Slide the Trim Removal Wedge: 3409 -2- under the trim -3- and leave it inserted there so that the locking tab -1- on the disengaged side does not re-engage.

-- On the outside of the trim -4-, insert the small flat-head screwdriver -1- under the trim as far as the marking and position it at the locking tab -3-.

-- Use the flat-head screwdriver -1- to unclip the locking tab -3- from the tab on the locking mechanism in direction of -arrow A-.

-- At the same time, pull the trim -4- upward from the locking mechanism in direction of -B arrows-.

-- Disengage and remove the trim -4-.
