Seat Belts: Checking For Belt Buckle Attachment, Seat Belt Latch And Belt Retractor Locking Function
Procedure :
On all existing seat belts:
-- Check if the stop buttons, clips, or loops attached to the seat belt webbing for attaching the belt latch are present.
-- Control the seat belt latch for clearance and blocking parts.
-- Check the locking behavior of the retractors by unrolling them with a jerk.
Depending on the vehicle, the attachment options on the seat belts in the vehicle may vary (for example, loops sewn into the front seat belt webbing and stop buttons on the rear). Two rivets per seat belt webbing (center rear) are also possible. Missing stop buttons or loops are classified as seat belt webbing damage.
If objects are secured with the seat belt (for example, a child seat), do not loosen the seat belt. Only check the locking behavior with the belt secured. Checking the stop button or stopper clip is not required in this case.
