Crankshaft Seal, Replacing, Transmission Side

Tool Preparation

If still present, an additional hole must be applied in the Crank Shaft Seal Installer - Guide Piece :T10122/6 :

Dimension -a- = 11 mm
Dimension -b- = 9.5 mm
Diameter = 7.5 mm
Depth = 14 mm

Procedure

The transmission is removed. Refer to TRANSMISSION, REMOVING .

-- Remove the flywheel. Refer to FLYWHEEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the sensor wheel.

-- Pry out the seal carefully using the Puller - Crankshaft/Power Steering Seal :T20143/2 at the same time do not damage the contact and sealing surface.

-- Clean the contact and sealing surface.

-- Attach the Crankshaft Seal Installer Kit - Guide Piece Guide Piece to Crankshaft Seal Install Kit - Guide Piece :T10122/1 to the Crankshaft Seal Installer Kit - Guide Piece :T10122/6 and push the seal -A- on the guide piece.

-- Remove the Crankshaft Seal Installer Kit - Guide Piece Guide Piece to Crankshaft Seal Install Kit - Guide Piece :T10122/1 .

-- Position the Crank Shaft Seal Installer - Guide Piece :T10122/6A on the crankshaft.

-- Attach the Guide Piece to the crankshaft through the mounting points -A- with the bolts -arrows-.

-- Position the Crank Shaft Seal Installer - Guide Piece :T10122/6A on the crankshaft.

-- Attach the Guide Piece to the crankshaft with the bolts -arrows- through the mounting points -B-.

CAUTION:

Risk of leaks due to incorrect handling.

The sealing lip of seal can be folded over if installed incorrectly.

- Install the seal using the method described.

-- Push the seal onto the crankshaft by hand using the Crank Shaft Seal Installer - Guide Piece :T10122/6A .

-- Press the seal in all around evenly using the Crankshaft Seal Installer Kit - Thrust Piece Thrust Piece :T10122/5 until flush.

-- Remove the Crank Shaft Seal Installer - Guide Piece :T10122/6A .

-- Check the seal as well as its sealing lip for correct seating. If the sealing lip is partially rolled back, repeat the procedure with a new seal.

-- Install the flywheel. Refer to FLYWHEEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
