Brake Caliper Piston, Removing And Installing, Dual-Piston Brake: Removing

The brake caliper is removed. Refer to BRAKE CALIPER, REPLACING, SINGLE AND DUAL-PISTON BRAKES .

-- Tension the brake caliper in a vise with protective covers over the jaws.

TIP:

Make sure that the paint coat on the brake caliper is not damaged when removing the brake caliper pistons and the protective caps.

-- Place a wooden board -3- into the recess so the brake caliper piston -2- is not damaged.

CAUTION:

Leaking brake fluid increases the risk of injury.

Irritation and injury to the skin and eyes are possible.

- Wear protective eyewear.

- Wear safety gloves.

-- Place a cloth tightly around the compressed air gun nozzle on the brake caliper to catch any spraying brake fluid.

-- Position the compressed air gun nozzle on the hole -arrow- for the brake hose and press the brake caliper piston out of the brake caliper -1-.

-- Remove the seals -2- from the brake caliper -1- using the Trim Removal Wedge:3409 -item. 3-.

When removing, make sure that the cylinder surface is not damaged.
