Hood Release Cable, Removing And Installing, LHD: Removing

-- Remove the vehicle electrical system control module. Refer to VEHICLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM CONTROL MODULE -J519-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Loosen the release cable -3- from the cable bracket -4- and disengage the release cable nipple -2-.

-- Push through the grommet -1- on the body.

-- TDI: remove the air duct on the lock carrier. Refer to OVERVIEW - AIR FILTER HOUSING .

-- TFSI: remove the air duct on the lock carrier. Refer to OVERVIEW - AIR FILTER HOUSING .

-- Loosen the washer fluid reservoir filler neck from the lock carrier. Refer to WASHER FLUID RESERVOIR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Release the retainers -arrows- and remove the housing cover -1-.

-- Loosen the release cable -4- from the cable bracket -3- and disengage the release cable nipple -2-.

-- Free up the release cable -1- on the lock carrier -2- and on the clip -arrow-.

-- Pull the release cable out toward the rear using an assisting wire or cord.
