Bumper Cover, Removing And Installing, RS3: Removing

-- Remove the lock carrier trim panel. Refer to LOCK CARRIER TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Unclip the cover -2- from the luggage compartment side trim panel.

-- If equipped, remove the plugs -1-.

-- Remove the nuts -arrow- using the Body Socket:T40078  .

-- Remove the tail lamp. Refer to OVERVIEW - BODY TAIL LAMPS .

-- Pull the retainer -1- upward -arrow-.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.

-- Remove the wheel housing extension. Refer to WHEEL HOUSING EXTENSION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, REAR .

-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.

-- Push the rear wheel housing liner to the side.

-- Remove the bolt -1-.

-- Release the retaining strip -3- from the retainers -arrows- and slightly pull the bumper cover side piece -2- toward the outside.

-- Disengage the bumper cover side piece -1- on the side panel outward -arrow A- and remove the bumper cover -3- slightly toward the rear -arrow B- with the help of a second technician.

-- Disconnect the connectors -2-.

-- Lay the bumper cover on a soft surface.
