Lock Carrier, Removing And Installing, A3/S3: Removing

-- Remove the bumper cover. Refer to BUMPER COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the refrigerant lines on the condenser. Refer to CONDENSER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the headlamps. Refer to HEADLAMP, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Disconnect the connector for the radiator fan -arrow- (different component locations).

-- Disconnect the connectors -1 and 2- and free up the wiring harness -3-.

-- Loosen the washer fluid reservoir filler neck from the lock carrier. Refer to WASHER FLUID RESERVOIR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Disconnect the lid lock release cable at the coupling and free it up on the lock carrier. Refer to OVERVIEW - RELEASE CABLE .

-- Disconnect the connector -1- and free up the wiring harness.

-- Disconnect the connector -2- from the pedestrian protection crash sensor and free up the wiring harness.

-- Disconnect the left and right catches -arrows- of the radiator mount with a side cutter, push the radiator together with a charge air cooling circuit cooler and condenser on the top slightly toward the rear. (The radiator mount can be reused).

-- Remove the bolt -arrow-.

-- For reinstallation, mark the installation position of the lock carrier -2- on both sides of the lock carrier -arrow-.

-- Have a second technician hold the lock carrier and remove the bolts -1 and 3-. 

-- Remove the lock carrier with a second technician slightly forward and at the same time remove the radiator module from the mount and tie up to the engine.

-- Remove the lock carrier.

-- The following components must also be removed if the lock carrier is being replaced:

• Bumper carrier. Refer to BUMPER CARRIER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
• Hood latch. Refer to HOOD LATCH, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
