SUBFRAME, Securing: Notes

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

• Engine and Gearbox Jack:VAS6931

• Locating Pins:T10486/1  from Assembly Tool, Sub-frame Alignment :T10486A

Procedure 

Vehicles with High-Voltage System:

-- Loosen the left and right underbody trim panels to the center of the vehicle and lower. Refer to OVERVIEW - UNDERBODY TRIM PANELS .

Continuation for All Vehicles:

-- Remove the noise insulation. Refer to OVERVIEW - NOISE INSULATION .

-- Remove the tunnel underbody trim panel. Refer to OVERVIEW - UNDERBODY TRIM PANELS .

-- Position the Engine and Gearbox Jack:VAS6931  with the mounting plate -1- on a suitable surface under the subframe.

-- Clean the threads of the Locating Pins:T10486/1  if necessary.

-- Loosen the bolts -1 and 2- for the supports -4 and 6-.

• To secure the subframe the Locating Pins:T10486/1  must be installed at the positions -3, 5, 7 and 8- one after the other.
• The threaded pin must only be tightened to a maximum of 20 Nm or else the threads will be damaged.

Front Subframe, Securing

-- Replace the bolts on both sides of the vehicle through the Threaded Pin:T10486/1  -1- and tighten to 20 Nm.

Rear Subframe, Securing

-- Remove the support bolts, the subframe bolt and then remove the support.

-- Insert the Locating Pin:T10486/1  -1- and tighten to 20 Nm.

-- Repeat this procedure on the opposite side.

• Securing the subframe -5- is completed, when the bolts -1, 2, 3 and 4- are inserted one after the other through the Locating Pin:T10486/1  .

• The subframe position is now secured.
