Lower Control Arm, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Before starting the procedures, determine the curb weight position. Refer to VEHICLES WITH COIL SPRINGS, CHECKING THE CURB WEIGHT POSITION FOR AXLE ALIGNMENT .

-- Remove the wheel. Refer to WHEELS AND TIRES .

-- Remove the noise insulation. Refer to OVERVIEW - NOISE INSULATION .

-- Loosen the wheel housing liner from the underbody trim panel and move it slightly to the side. Refer to FRONT WHEEL HOUSING, REPLACING .

Vehicle with Level Control System Sensor:

-- If equipped, remove the stone chip protection (refer to the illustration below) or the air duct (refer to the illustration below).

-- Remove the nut -1- and free up the lever -2- for the level control system sensor on the control arm -3-.

-- Remove the left and right nuts -arrows-.

-- Remove the control arm from the ball joint and then turn ball joint forward to take the load off the control arm.

• Make sure the ball joint rubber boot is not damaged during assembly work. If necessary protect the ball joint rubber boot against damage.

Left Control Arm on Vehicles with Dual Clutch Transmission 0GC, 0DD:

The distance -a- to the transmission is not enough, remove the bolt -1-. For this reason proceed as follows:

-- Lower the subframe a maximum of 100 mm. Refer to SUBFRAME, LOWERING .

-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.

-- Swivel the control arm -1- toward the rear and then remove it from the subframe in direction of -arrows-.
