Removing Triple Roller Joint

-- Clamp the drive axle vertical in a vise with protective covers.

-- Open both clamps at the inner joint and slide back the CV boot.

-- Remove the joint from the drive axle.

-- Remove the circlip -1- with the pliers -2-.

-- Press the triple roller star off the drive axle.

-- Position the special tool as shown:

1 - Press Piece - Rod:VW408A 

2 - Press Plate:VW402 

3 - :T10065/1  from the Tripod Joint Tool:T10065 

4 - :T10065/4  from the Tripod Joint Tool:T10065 

5 - Press Plate:VW401 

-- Pull off CV boot from shaft.

-- Clean the shaft, joint and groove for the circlip.

Installing Triple Roller Joint - Conical Drive Axle Version

-- Slide the small clamp for the CV boot onto the shaft.

-- Slide the CV boot onto the shaft.

-- Slide the joint piece onto the shaft.

• Installation position: the chamfer -arrow- on the triple roller star faces the drive axle splines.

-- Position the special tool as shown:

1 -Press Piece - Rod:VW411 

2 -Press Piece - Multiple Use:VW447H 

3 -Press Piece - 37mm:VW416B 

4 -Press Plate:VW402 

5 -:T10065/1  from the Tripod Joint Tool:T10065 

6 -:T10065/2  from the Tripod Joint Tool:T10065 

7 -Press Plate:VW401 

-- Install the triple roller star all the way onto the shaft.

-- Make sure the pressure does not increase above 3.0 t.

-- If necessary, coat the splines from the drive axle and triple roller star using Grease. Refer to the => Electronic Parts Information (ETKA) for the allocation.

-- Insert the circlip while making sure it is seated correctly.

-- Press half of the drive axle grease from the repair set into the triple roller joint.

-- Slide the joint piece over rollers and secure.

-- Press the other half of the drive axle grease from the repair kit into the rear side of the triple roller joint.

-- Install the CV boot.

-- Slide the small clamp for the CV boot onto the shaft.

-- Slide the CV boot onto the shaft.

-- Slide the joint piece onto the shaft.

• Installation position: the chamfer -arrow- on the triple roller star faces the drive axle splines.

-- Position the special tool as shown:

1 - Press Piece - Rod:VW411 

2 - Press Piece - Multiple Use:VW447H 

3 - Press Piece - 37mm:VW416B 

4 - Press Plate:VW402 

5 - :T10065/1  from the Tripod Joint Tool:T10065 

6 - :T10065/3  from the Tripod Joint Tool:T10065 

7 - Press Plate:VW401 

-- Install the triple roller star all the way onto the shaft.

-- Make sure the pressure does not increase above 3.0 t.

-- If necessary, coat the splines from the drive axle and triple roller star using Grease. Refer to the => Electronic Parts Information (ETKA) for the allocation.

-- Insert the circlip while making sure it is seated correctly.

-- Press half of the drive axle grease from the repair set into the triple roller joint.

-- Slide the joint piece over rollers and secure.

-- Press the other half of the drive axle grease from the repair kit into the rear side of the triple roller joint.

-- Install the CV boot.

-- Slide the CV boot onto the joint and mount the clamp.

Install the CV Boot on Triple Roller Joint

-- Push the CV boot for the adapter for the CV boot.

• The CV boot must engage in the groove -arrow- of the adapter.
