-- Drain the coolant. Refer to COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING .

-- Remove the engine cover and heat shield. Refer to ENGINE COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Vehicles without Particulate Filter

-- Loosen the Transmission Fluid Cooling Valve -N509- with the bracket. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooling Valve -N509-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the steering intermediate shaft from the steering gear and push together. Refer to STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Vehicles with a Particulate Filter

-- Remove the left catalytic converter. Refer to CATALYTIC CONVERTER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, 2.9L ENGINE WITH PARTICULATE FILTER .
