ATF, Draining And Filling

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

Draining

-- Remove the noise insulation. Refer to OVERVIEW - NOISE INSULATION .

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and nut -2-.

-- Remove the end panel -1-.

-- Place the :SMN372500  under the transmission.

CAUTION:

Risk of injury due to fluid escaping.

Irritation and injury to the skin and eyes are possible.

- Wear protective eyewear.

- Wear safety gloves.

-- Place multiple cloths under the tunnel crossmember to catch the escaping ATF.

-- Open the ATF drain plug -arrow A- and drain the ATF.

CAUTION:

Risk of destroying the transmission due to faulty lubrication.

- Never start the engine when no ATF is in the transmission.

- Never mix ATF with other oils.

-- Tighten the drain plug -arrow A- all the way.

ATF, Filling

CAUTION:

Risk of destroying the transmission by using the wrong ATF

- Only use the ATF specified for the transmission.

-- Remove the plug for the ATF check and fill hole -arrow B-.

-- Install the :VAS6262/5  into the ATF check and fill hole -arrow-.

-- Fill with ATF using the adapter until the ATF starts to leak out of the check and fill hole.

-- Start the engine in "P" position.

-- Fill with ATF again using the adapter until the ATF starts to leak out of the check and fill hole.

-- Tighten the old plug for the ATF check and fill hole hand-tight.

-- Check the ATF level and correct if necessary. Refer to ATF LEVEL, CHECKING .
