Electric Drive Control Module On Front Axle J1234, Removing And Installing: Removing
If the Electric Drive Control Module on Front Axle -J1234- is replaced, the test plan for replacing the control module must be performed.
-- Perform the "Control Module, Replacing" function using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester . Refer to Diagnostic Entries .

- Have a high-voltage technician or a high-voltage expert de-energize the high-voltage system.
-- Refer to High-Voltage System, De-Energizing .
-- Remove the plenum chamber bulkhead. Refer to PLENUM CHAMBER BULKHEAD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the front underbody trim panel. Refer to OVERVIEW - UNDERBODY TRIM PANELS .
S model
-- Remove the nut -3-.
-- Remove the bolt -1-.
-- Move the coolant pipes to the side slightly.
Continuation for all vehicles
-- Remove the screws -arrows-.
-- Disconnect the connector -1-.
-- Install the noise insulation on the motor.
Vehicles with protective housing
-- Remove the screws -arrows-.
-- Remove the protective housing -1-.

- Have a high-voltage technician or a high-voltage expert de-energize the high-voltage system.
-- If the contact protection is remove from on high-voltage components, an additional de-energizing must be performed.
-- Remove the bolts in the sequence -6- through -1- and remove the cover.
-- Perform an additional de-energizing.
-- Remove the screws -arrows-.
-- Remove the cover -1- rearward -arrows-.
The cooling system can be under pressure. Risk of scalding by hot steam and hot coolant.
Possibility of scalding the skin and other parts of the body.
- Wear safety gloves.
- Wear protective eyewear.
- Reduce the pressure: cover the coolant expansion tank cap with a suitable towel and carefully open.
-- Cut the seal loop -1-.
-- To remove the residual pressure in the cooling system, quickly open the cap -3-.
-- Clamp off the coolant hoses using the Hose Clamps - Up To 25mm:3094 .
-- Place a cleaning cloth underneath, to catch cleaning coolant leaking out.
-- Loosen the hose clamps -1- and -2- and remove the coolant hoses (example photo).
-- Place the Shop Crane - Drip Tray:VAS 6208 underneath.
-- Disconnect the connector -arrow-.
-- Remove the bolts in sequence -4- through -1-.
