Brake Master Cylinder, Removing And Installing, With Vacuum Brake Master Cylinder: Installing
Install in the reverse order of removal while noting the following:
- Do not let any brake fluid run into the brake booster.
- The actuator pin for the Brake Pedal Switch -FX2- must be inserted in the brake master cylinder.
-- Install the Brake Pedal Switch -FX2-. Refer to Brake Pedal Position Sensor -G100-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Make sure that the actuator pin -2- for the brake lamp is inserted in the brake master cylinder -1-.
-- The actuator pin -2- must be in the hole in the brake master cylinder -1- directly on the Brake Pedal Switch -FX2-.
-- Check the actuator pin; a damaged or bent actuator pin must be replaced.
-- The piston in the brake master cylinder is not secured. Make sure it does not fall out.
-- When inserting the brake master cylinder -1-, make sure that the primary piston -3- is seated correctly in the brake booster -2-.
-- If necessary, have a second technician press the brake pedal slightly. This allows the brake master cylinder to be guided into pressure rod more easily.
-- Install the brake fluid reservoir. Refer to BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Install the plenum chamber bulkhead. Refer to PLENUM CHAMBER BULKHEAD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Make sure the brake lamp is working correctly before driving the vehicle for the first time.
Faulty brakes increase the risk of an accident.
