Brake Booster, Removing And Installing, Vacuum Brake Booster: Removing
-- Switch off the ignition.
-- Reduce the vacuum in the brake booster by pressing the brake pedal repeatedly.
-- Disconnect the brake pedal from the brake booster. Refer to BRAKE PEDAL, DISCONNECTING FROM BRAKE BOOSTER .
-- Remove the plenum chamber bulkhead. Refer to PLENUM CHAMBER BULKHEAD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the brake fluid reservoir. Refer to BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
LHD vehicle
-- Remove the brake lines -arrows- from the bracket -1-.
Risk of destroying the brake lines by bending.
- Never change the shape of the brake lines.
- A damaged or bent brake line must be replaced.
-- LHD: disconnect the connector -1- and remove Vacuum Sensor -G608-. Refer to BRAKE BOOSTER PRESSURE SENSOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Disconnect the connector -4- for the Brake Pedal Switch -FX2-.
-- Pull the vacuum hose -2- off of the brake booster and remove it; do not damage it while doing so.
-- To protect against escaping brake fluid, place enough lint-free cloths in the area below the brake booster.
Leaking brake fluid increases the risk of injury.
Risk of skin irritation and injury.
- Wear safety gloves.
-- Remove the union bolts -3- for the brake lines, then remove the brake lines from the brake master cylinder and move them slightly to the side.
Risk of destroying the brake lines by bending.
- Never change the shape of the brake lines.
- A damaged or bent brake line must be replaced.
-- Immediately close open connection points with a clean plug.
RHD vehicles
-- Free up the coolant hoses in the area of the brake booster.
Continuation for all vehicles
-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.
-- Carefully pull the brake booster with the brake master cylinder out of the plenum chamber.
