Transmission Fluid Level, Checking

Procedure

NOTE:

General repair instructions. Refer to REPAIR INFORMATION .

Guidelines for clean working conditions. Refer to GUIDELINES FOR CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .

Do not exchange the transmission fluid (MTF) chamber with the ATF chamber.

Replace the plug for the inspection and fill hole.

Transmission fluid temperature at approximately 20 °C (68 °F) (room temperature).
Move vehicle onto a four-pillar workshop hoist or over a work pit so that it is absolutely horizontal.
The transmission must be still for at least 15 minutes to make sure the oil settles internally.

-- Remove the rear noise insulation. Refer to NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Equipped on some models: remove the bolts -arrows- and nut -2-.

-- Remove the end panel -1- for the crossbrace.

WARNING:

Danger of eye injury.

Wear protective eyewear.

-- Remove the plug -arrow- for the right inspection and fill hole on the transmission housing with the Torx Socket - T60:T40087 .

The manual transmission fluid (MTF) must be 2 mm from the lower edge of the inspection and fill hole.

-- If the oil level is not correct, fill the transmission fluid. Refer to TRANSMISSION FLUID, DRAINING AND FILLING .
