Headliner, Lowering, A5 Coupe

Procedure

-- Pay attention to the safety precautions when working with pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN WORKING WITH PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS .

-- Move the rear headrests into the lowest position.

-- Remove the A-pillar upper trim panels. Refer to A-PILLAR UPPER TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, A5 COUPE/SPORTBACK .

-- Detach the B-pillar trim panels (refer to B-PILLAR TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, A5 COUPE ) and move to the side with the seat belt.

-- Remove the C-pillar trim panels. Refer to C-PILLAR TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, A5 COUPE .

-- Remove the sun visors. Refer to SUN VISOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, A5 COUPE/SPORTBACK .

-- Remove the center support for the sun visor. Refer to SUN VISOR CENTER SUPPORT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the vanity mirror lamp. Refer to DRIVER VANITY MIRROR LAMP -W20- /FRONT PASSENGER VANITY MIRROR LAMP -W14-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- If installed remove the roof grab handle. Refer to ROOF GRAB HANDLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Equipment version: unclip the cover -1- on the side using the clip-release lever from the Scraper Set:VAS 6845  -arrows A, B and C-.

-- Disengage the front cover and remove toward the rear.

Versions without Sliding Sunroof:

-- Remove the front roof module. Refer to FRONT INTERIOR LAMP/READING LAMP, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Versions equipped with a sliding sunroof:

-- Open the sunroof shade.

-- To avoid dirtying the headliner, clean the Removal Wedge:T40233  .

-- Push the trim removal wedge between the frame -1- for the sliding sunroof and the headliner.

-- Using the trim removal wedge, loosen the headliner all the way around the sunroof frame -arrows-.

-- Unclip the headliner -3- together with the front roof module -1- from the clamp -2- using the scraper from the Scraper Set:VAS 6845  and carefully lower it.

-- Disconnect the connector and free up the wiring harness.

Continuation:

-- Free up in the headliner in the area of the inner door seals.

• Replace the headliner if it is bent.

-- Unclip the rear headliner at the clips -1 and 3- from the body -arrows- using the Pry Lever:80 - 200  .

-- Unclip the headliner from the body in the center at the centering pin -2-.

-- Move the front seats all the way to the rear and then into their lowest position. Then position the backrest as far back as it will go.

-- Lower the front headliner as much as possible.

-- Reach through the left and right between the headliner and roof toward the rear and unclip the straps for the headliner from the body.

-- To do so push together the catches for the clip -1- for the strap with pliers for the circlips -arrows- and remove the clip.

-- Carefully lower the headliner and place it on the seats.

Assembling

-- Clip in the left and right rear strap for the headliner in the body.

-- Align the headliner, press in the centering pin at the rear of the headliner until it engages audibly in the body mounting point.

-- Install the center support for the sun visors. Refer to SUN VISOR CENTER SUPPORT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Stretch the inner door seal lip over.

Versions equipped with a sliding sunroof:

-- Clip the sides of the headliner into the sunroof frame first, and then into the front and rear.

Further assembly is performed in reverse order.
