-- TFSI vehicles: remove the front muffler. Refer to FRONT MUFFLER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING - 2.0L , FRONT MUFFLER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING - 3.0L , FRONT MUFFLER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING - Servicing 3.0L .

-- TDI vehicles: remove the front exhaust pipe. Refer to the appropriate Service Information .

-- Remove the driveshaft. Refer to DRIVESHAFT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the nuts -arrows- and bolt -2- for the underbody trim panel -1- in the heat shield area.
