Adaptive Cruise Control (Acc), Adjusting, Q7 Before Product Improvement

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2023 Audi SQ8, 2023 Audi RS Q8, and 2023 Audi Q8. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

A new adjustment is necessary if:

Special tools and workshop equipment required

There are two options for adjusting the adaptive cruise control sensors:

The "quick access"

This procedure should be selected for the following activities if only the adjustment will be performed.

The "complete alignment"

This procedure should be selected for the following activities if an adjustment and an axle alignment will be performed.

TIP:

The calibration instructions that follow describe the procedure used with the Wheel Alignment Computer: VAS 701 001  .

-- "Activate vehicle lift mode" on equipment versions with air suspension. Refer to the appropriate Service Information or "Standard Vehicle Height, Initiating and Locking". Refer to STANDARD VEHICLE HEIGHT, INITIATING AND LOCKING .

If there was a previous axle alignment, the steps under "Calibration procedure without a previous axle alignment" should not performed.

Calibration procedure without previous axle alignment

-- Drive the vehicle onto the vehicle alignment platform.

-- Connect the battery charger for the battery support mode. Refer to BATTERY, CHARGING .

-- Install quick-action clamps on the wheels.

-- Install the measuring sensors on the wheels.

-- Perform the wheel run-out compensation.

Adjustment procedure with previous axle alignment

-- Switch off the ignition.

-- Connect the battery charger for the battery support mode. Refer to BATTERY, CHARGING .

-- Position the wheels so that they are straight.

-- Turn off all vehicle exterior lamps.

-- Close all vehicle doors.

Continuation for the alignment procedure with / without previous axle alignment

-- Select the ACC calibration button on the wheel alignment computer.

Follow the sequence for adjusting:

  1. The distance between the center of the ACC Reflector Mirror - Audi:VAS 6430/3  and the Audi rings must be 120 cm ± 2.5 cm.

    TIP:

Perform this step if night vision camera was not adjusted earlier.

If a camera adjustment/calibration was performed earlier, then it is not necessary to reposition the Setting Device - Basic Set:VAS 6430/1A  .

  2. Position the ACC Reflector Mirror - Audi:VAS 6430/3  on the right side in front of the Control Module for Adaptive Cruise Control -J428-,
  3. Adjust the Control Module for Adaptive Cruise Control -J428-,
  4. Attach the ACC Reflector Mirror, Audi:VAS 6430/3  on the opposite side of the calibration beam in front of Distance Regulation Control Module 2 -J850-,
  5. Check the position of the bubble level and of the calibration beam (using the display on the wheel alignment computer) and correct it if necessary,
  6. Adjust the Control Module 2 for Adaptive Cruise Control -J850-.

-- Remove the right and left air intake grille. Refer to Front Bumper .

-- Remove any dirt that may be on the sensor lens.

-- Connect the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester to the vehicle. (Guide the diagnostic cable through the door window.)

Process without a previously calibrating/adjusting the night vision camera

-- Using the laser beam -3- on the ACC Reflector Mirror - Audi :VAS 6430  , check if the laser beam is in the center of the sensor lens.

-- Connect the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.

-- Switch the ignition on.

-- Select and start the Diagnostic  operating mode.

-- Select the Test plan  tab.

-- Select the Select individual test  button and select the following tree structure consecutively:

-- Start the selected program and follow the instructions on the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester display.
