REAR FINAL DRIVE 0BX "quattro sport", REMOVING AND INSTALLING, AUDI Q7, Q8

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

• Engine and Gearbox Jack:VAS 6931

Final Drive, Removing:

Pay attention to the general repair information. Refer to REPAIR INFORMATION .

• Tightening specifications. Refer to OVERVIEW - REAR FINAL DRIVE, AUDI Q7 AND Q8 .

-- Place the vehicle on a hoist.

-- Loosen the clamps -1 and 2- and disconnect the exhaust system.

-- Tie up the front exhaust pipes on the side on the underbody.

-- Remove the rear section of the exhaust system. Refer to OVERVIEW - MUFFLER - 3.0L , OVERVIEW - MUFFLER - Servicing 3.0L .

-- Remove the rear diagonal braces. Refer to DIAGONAL BRACES, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Vehicles with sway stabilization

-- Loosen the nut -2- on the stabilizer bar a few turns but do not remove it.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- on both sides and pivot the stabilizer bar downward.

Vehicles with sway stabilization

-- Remove the sway stabilization. Refer to STABILIZER BAR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Continuation for all vehicles

-- Remove the bolts -1, 3 and 4- and the cover -2-.

-- Remove the driveshaft on the rear final drive. Refer to DRIVE SHAFT, REMOVING FROM REAR FINAL DRIVE AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the left drive axle heat shield -A- from the final drive -arrows-.

-- Remove the bolts for the left and right drive axle -arrows-.

-- Guide the drive axle out of the flange shaft and move it to the side.

-- Disconnect the connectors -1- and -2- and free up the cable.

Vehicles with air suspension

-- Remove the nuts -arrows- and remove the cover for the air supply unit -1-.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the solenoid valve block -1- from the bracket -2- and disengage on the side.

Continuation for All

-- Move the Engine and Gearbox Jack: VAS 6931  with the Universal Transmission Support and a rubber or hard foam mat -A- under the rear final drive.

-- Use a Tensioning Strap:T10038  to secure the rear final drive from falling.

-- Remove the nut -1- and bolt -2-.

-- Carefully lower the rear final drive.

Final Drive, Installing:

Install in reverse order of removal.

• Tightening specifications. Refer to OVERVIEW - REAR FINAL DRIVE, AUDI Q7 AND Q8 .

-- Bring the rear final drive into its installation position using the Engine and Gearbox Jack:VAS 6931  and Universal Transmission Support.

-- Install the bolt -2- hand-tight.

-- Install the bolts -arrows- for the rear final drive and tighten.

-- Tighten the bolt -2- and nut -1-.

-- Remove the Engine and Gearbox Jack:VAS 6931  from under the final drive.

-- Tighten the solenoid valve block -1- on the bracket -2- -arrows-.

-- Tighten the air supply unit cover -1- using the nuts -arrows-.

-- Connect the connectors -1- and -2-.

-- Insert and tighten the drive axles. Refer to DRIVE AXLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove left drive axle heat shield -A- -arrows-.

-- Install the driveshaft on the rear final drive. Refer to Figure.

-- Install the sway stabilization. Refer to STABILIZER BAR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the underbody trim panel. Refer to OVERVIEW - UNDERBODY TRIM PANELS .

-- Install the rear diagonal braces. Refer to DIAGONAL BRACES, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Additional work

• If the rear final drive 0BX was replaced, additional work is necessary. Refer to ADDITIONAL WORK AFTER REPLACING FINAL DRIVE 0D3 "quattro sport" AND 0BX "quattro sport" .
