GEAR OIL, DRAINING AND FILLING, 0B0, 09R "quattro ultra"

• Charging Device for AWD Clutch Coupling 2:VAS 6291A

• Adapter for Oil Filling:VAS 6291/1  or Charging Device for AWD Clutch Coupling 2 - Adapter 2 :VAS 6291/2 
• Charging Device For AWD Clutch Coupling 2 - Adapter 3:VAS 6291/3  (rework if necessary. Refer to Fig 5.)

• The Oil Filler - Adapter 6:VAS 6262/6  must be used on some fluid containers.

• Drip Tray

Depending on the version, the spacer tube from the Charging Device For AWD Clutch Coupling 2 - Adapter 3VAS 6291/3 can line up on the housing rib on the final drive.

-- Grind the adapter spacer tube as shown, opposite both the side holes -arrows-.

Draining

-- Final drive 0B0: remove the gear oil check plug -1-.

• Removing the gear oil check plug allows the gear oil to drain faster.

-- Remove the drain plug -2- and drain the gear oil.

-- Then tighten the gear oil drain plug -2-.

• Tightening specification: Refer to COMPONENT LOCATION OVERVIEW - DRAIN AND CHECK PLUGS .

Filling

-- Final drive 0B0: remove the gear oil check plug -1-.

-- Install the Adapter for Oil Filling:VAS 6291/1  or Charging Device for AWD Clutch Coupling 2 - Adapter 2 :VAS 6291/2  -1-.

-- Attach the elbow -A- to the adapter -B-.

-- Route the hose over the right drive axle.

• The hose must not sag. It must be routed over the right rear wheel.

-- Lower the vehicle.

-- Make sure that the valve -arrow- is closed.

-- Screw the fluid container -A- onto the Charging Device for AWD Clutch Coupling 2:VAS 6291A  .

-- Open the valve -arrow- and hold the oil container as shown.

The rear final drive will not be filled.

• When at the correct filling of the rear final drive oil drips between the adapter -B- and the final drive housing.

-- Lift the vehicle.

-- If oil leaks from the adapter -B-, set down the oil container (for example, on a tool trolley).

A portion of the excess oil runs back into the oil container.

-- If no more oil runs back, remove the Charging Device for AWD Clutch Coupling 2:VAS 6291A  .

• The oil level is correct when the rear final drive is filled up to the lower edge of the oil fill hole.

-- Then tighten the gear oil check plug.

• Tightening specification: Refer to COMPONENT LOCATION OVERVIEW - DRAIN AND CHECK PLUGS .
